BDM (Energy)

Due to growth, we are looking to recruit a driven and ambitious Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead sales efforts and drive the development of our business in Energy at Captec. If you’ve got a strong background in a field-based business development and experience selling specialised computers and rack integration platforms, then we want to hear from you!

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Director, you will be working closely developing and executing the Energy strategy, maximising business success and potential. As our new BDM, you will require a solid technical background as engagement with the engineering team will be a requirement and understanding customer needs ensuring successful delivery of the projects. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate an existing pipeline of opportunities in this sector.

To succeed in the position, you’ll need strength of character, confidence, and eagerness to take on new challenges in a target driven environment. Negotiation skills and a polished customer facing approach is key, as you’ll be communicating and presenting persuasive value propositions to a range of audiences. As this role focuses on new business, you will be mainly field based, reporting into our HQ in Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiating and winning projects and supporting the deployment of major projects.
  • Preparation of sales prospecting plans focusing on creating engagement opportunities for Energy.
  • Support the internal lead generation campaign team to undertake research to define target suspects to prospects, and pro-actively engage with prospects.
  • Engage in a balanced mix of opportunity nurturing and relationship building activities to identify, and progress prospects to customers.
  • Actively identify and engage in networking opportunities at industry events to meet potential and targeted prospects.
  • Growth of key accounts and customer base.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in selling specialist computers and rack integration through consultative/solutions sales techniques.
  • Demonstrable results in end-to-end solution sales into utilities, communication, or similar sectors.
  • Experienced in the design and implementation of business development strategies.
  • Comprehensive sector knowledge with customers and prospects. Understanding of the competitor’s landscape and their proposition to market.
  • Commercially confident with proven experience in complex projects.
  • Experienced in negotiating and winning high-value projects within large SME and Enterprise customer types.
  • Must hold a full and clean driving licence.

Project Engineer

An opening has arisen for a Project Engineer to join our COTS team, providing technical support to both support the bidding and winning of both server and rack integration business as well as releasing, managing, and supporting of first off projects through to production.

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to work with emerging technology for an industry-leading computer specialist. What’s more, is you will be joining an award-winning hardware specification team in driving our computer and rack integration services to our customers.

The role is ideal for a technical person who also enjoys the interaction with sales and customers as well as getting involved in commercial aspects of winning business.

The successful candidate will have a good baseline technical background.  The ideal candidate will have some prior experience in specifying, configuring, or supporting technical solutions. They will have a good understanding of computer hardware and operating systems along with a basic understanding of 19” Rack architectures.

As a Project Engineer, you will be taking responsibility of the day-to-day management of COTS projects. You will be liaising with customers to determine their technical requirements, identifying the customer needs and pains and finally, you will be supporting business strategy by proactively developing hardware knowledge with regular engagement with our key hardware partners.

The role will also require the candidate to interface to multiple stakeholder teams in the business for the realisation of won compute and rack integration opportunities.  These will typically involve the purchasing team, the production team and any other associated services such as validation and verification, documentation, compliance, logistics as well as engineering teams for custom designed elements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technically support Sales to define a strategic approach to OSR completion that is in-line with customers’ expectations.
  • Day to day management on COTS projects throughout the whole product lifespan.
  • Supporting both Production and NPI team with first off builds.
  • Working with the wider Technical Services team to specify COTS hardware into bespoke designed solutions.
  • Attending and hosting of both current and new supplier visits.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Detailed knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems.
  • Experience in managing projects or ability to manage projects.
  • Be a competent communicator with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Experience in a computing or technology-related industry.

 

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Industry experience in one or more of: Computing, Medical, Transport, Automation, Energy, Communications or Defence & Security.
  • Experience in collaboratively developing end to end customer hardware solutions.
  • Experience in authoring technical specifications.
  • Experience in Industrial computer hardware market
  • Commercial awareness and experience of working to tight time frames and budgets.
  • Experience supporting and preparing written quotations or proposals.
